Optoelectronics Laboratory

Our main area of research focuses on MBE, MOCVD epitaxial growth, fabrication and characterization of optoelectronic devices based on Ⅲ-Ⅴ compound semiconductor. We aim in the research and development of new optical semiconductor materials, semiconductor laser for optical communications, RGB light source for micro projection display, VCSEL/RCE-PD for optical interconnection, optical transceiver module for subscriber, micro-optics sensor, opto-VLSI, and its applications.

RGB light source for micro projector
Development of InGaP/GaAs (Red) and InGaN/GaN (Blue, Green) vertical light emitting LED light sources.
Chip-to-chip parallel optical interconnect
High speed (>10Gbps) Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) array and Resonant Cavity Enhanced Photo Detectors (RCE-PD) array, platform, single mode VCSEL, microlens integrated VCSEL arrays and optical interconnectsystem on PCB.
Low cost DFB light source and module for optical communications
InGaAlAs/InP metal grating Distributed Feedback (DFB) LD for low cost optical transceiver module applications.
Micro-optic sensor
Bio-sensor, environmental-sensor, robotics motion control sensor and micro-laser mouse based on integrated VCSEL/RCE-PD.
Opto-VLSI and their applications

Application of opto-VLSI processor for optical interconnects, optical router and wavelength selective switch for WDM/DWDM, tunable laser etc.
